Founder of Bright Futures Family Education Foundation and ECCU – Early Childhood Christian University
Sometimes we believe we are starting something new when, in reality, God is simply leading us to continue a story He began long before we arrived.
That is exactly how the Bright Futures Family Education Foundation, DBA Aquanest Learning Center, came to life.
For more than three decades, St. Peter’s Nursery School was part of the lives of countless families in the Barnstable community, especially in Osterville. Within those walls, generations of children took their first steps in education, built friendships, developed confidence, and experienced moments that remained in their hearts for a lifetime. The handprints left on the walls still bear witness to the many children who grew up in that nurturing environment.
For many families, that school was much more than an educational program. It was a place of safety, love, belonging, and hope. It was where memories, dreams, and stories were built and passed from one generation to the next.
But, as happens in many seasons of life, the time came when St. Peter’s Nursery School closed its doors. The facility remained vacant for more than two years.
The classrooms stood empty.
The hallways grew silent.
The toys were put away.
And for many people, it seemed that chapter had come to an end.
But God was not finished writing that story.
As I continued my own journey as an educator, immigrant, mother, entrepreneur, and founder of early childhood education programs, I never imagined that my path would cross with such a special place.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve hundreds of children and families through the educational programs I founded and led in Massachusetts. I learned that education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create opportunities that extend across generations.
My journey in early childhood education in the United States has been built on dedication, learning, faith, and the desire to provide high-quality educational opportunities for every child. As a founder and educational leader, I have worked to create environments that promote academic excellence, inclusion, social-emotional development, and strong family partnerships. Throughout this journey, I have had the privilege of leading initiatives focused on bilingual education, inclusive support for children with diverse developmental needs, and the development of teams committed to children’s growth and well-being.
I believe every child deserves to be seen, valued, and supported in reaching their unique potential. This vision has guided the creation of programs that embrace diversity, strengthen families, and contribute to community development.
I have also learned that God often works behind the scenes, preparing connections that we only fully understand later.
When the opportunity arose to establish the Bright Futures Family Education Foundation within that space, I felt something that words alone could not explain.
I did not see just a building.
I saw a legacy.
I saw decades of dedication from the educators who came before us.
I saw the love invested in every child who passed through those classrooms.
I saw the lasting impact of a community that believed in the transformative power of education.
And I realized that we were not arriving to start a new story.
We were being called to preserve an educational legacy that had impacted generations of children and families while creating new pathways for early childhood education in our community.
That was the moment I realized God had been writing this story long before any of us.
Every challenge faced.
Every door opened.
Every experience lived.
Every family served.
Everything seemed to lead us to this reunion.
Reopening this space represents far more than the continuation of a school. It represents the preservation of an educational treasure within the community and the opportunity to return to families a place prepared to welcome a new generation of children. It also reflects a commitment to revitalize a program that had remained closed for years, bringing life, purpose, and service back to a place that had shaped so many stories.
Today, the Bright Futures Family Education Foundation humbly and gratefully accepts the responsibility of carrying this legacy forward.
Our commitment is to honor the past while building the future.
We want the children who will once again fill these hallways to experience the same care, dedication, and love that so many others experienced over the past decades.
We seek to strengthen families, create educational opportunities, support educators, and continue serving our community with excellence, inclusion, compassion, and purpose.
There is something deeply moving about imagining that the classrooms that remained silent for so long will once again be filled with laughter, discovery, and dreams.
The doors that remained closed will open again.
The lights will shine again.
The voices of children will once again echo through the hallways.
And a new generation will have the opportunity to create its own memories in a place that has already touched so many lives.
To some, this may seem like a coincidence.
To us, it is providence.
It is confirmation that God preserves what has purpose. And when the right time comes, He brings together people, stories, and dreams to continue the work He began.
The Bright Futures Family Education Foundation was born from a dream God placed in my heart many years ago. A dream built through challenges, faith, hard work, continuous learning, and the conviction that education has the power to transform lives, strengthen families, and impact entire communities.
Along this journey, God also allowed my path to cross with Rafaela Fonseca’s. More than a professional partner, she embraced this mission wholeheartedly, believing in the vision, values, and dreams that inspired this project. Through her dedication, commitment, and love for the families we serve, she became an important part of this story and the building of this legacy.
And this journey does not replace what we are already building. On the contrary, it strengthens and expands our mission.
We remain committed to the work of ECCU – Early Childhood Christian University, a project that continues transforming lives through education, inclusion, and love for others. Through ECCU and now through the Bright Futures Family Education Foundation, we are expanding our reach and creating new opportunities to serve children, families, educators, and communities.
No great work is built alone.
God connects us with the right people so that His purposes may be fulfilled.
We are deeply grateful to walk together in this mission of educating, welcoming, serving, and transforming lives.
Because in the end, we are not simply reopening a building.
We are reopening opportunities.
We are renewing hope.
We are preserving a legacy.
And we are participating in a story that God began long before us—and that will continue impacting generations for many years to come.
